Thank you for visiting my campaign site! I invite you to join me and fellow candidate Tom Gaffney in this endeavor to accomplish the following goals:
You may have already read my Candidate Statement in your sample ballot. The following links will help you see why defeating the incumbents is such a high priority for our health and well-being. This year we have once again witnessed the effects of an aging, inadequate sewage infrastructure in Marin—millions of gallons of untreated sewage flowing into San Francisco Bay and local communities, and seeping from our pipes into the ground and storm drains. It is true that upgrading our infrastructure will require higher fees, but efficient investment requires leadership to establish priorities for the greatest effectiveness. There is general consensus that matters at the Ross Valley Sanitary District have gone from bad to worse! I would be flattered if you simply took my word for it, but I find myself surrounded by agencies, organizations and local leaders who all express grave concerns about mismanagement at our local sanitary district. The Marin County Civil Grand Jury investigated and published a report in 2006 entitled "Stuck in the Muck: The Ross Valley Sanitary District," which describes issues confronting the district that unfortunately still have not been adequately addressed. The incumbents (that with your help will be out of a job June 3rd) have exacerbated the problems and are not in compliance with the Consent Decree that resulted from a lawsuit settled in 2006. The advantages to removing the incumbents on this board will be many, impacting both your pocket book and good governance. And simply voting is an easy thing to do! If you would like to do more, let me offer some suggestions... Spread the word! Become better informed by following this race and asking questions. Volunteer with our campaign and show your support by posting a yard sign, and financial contributions are welcome. Contact us: Rick Holland for Sanitary District And I invite you to attend a district meeting (believe me, one meeting observing the current board is all it takes to see incompetence in action), held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:45: Ross
Valley Sanitary District Of course, the district's partners at the Central Marin Sanitation Agency (CMSA) have told the RVSD that it must find new office space by January, given the lack of collaboration of the board with regional efforts. I am sure that if elected I will be able to remedy this situation, but if the incumbents remain the misuse of millions of dollars of our tax money will continue, with new offices being just one example! So if I am not elected, make sure to confirm the meeting site before attending a board meeting. I look forward to meeting you out on the campaign trail! |
