Dear Neighbor, Help
Us Prevent Sewage Spills! Much of Marin County has an aging, leaking sewage
system. Many small districts oversee the pipes to the treatment plants and the
systems are overwhelmed. Because of a lack of knowledge about their failing
sewage systems, the general public is apathetic about the problem; and several
“old timers” who sit on district boards are conducting “business as
usual” and are not getting the job done.
New
leadership is urgently needed! The EPA has cited Marin sanitary agencies for
sewage spills that have contaminated both property and the bay. The Ross Valley
Sanitary District (RVSD) was sued and since 2006 is under a court order to meet
a minimum of infrastructure improvement annually. The Marin County Civil Grand
Jury published a litany of complaints also in 2006 regarding the mismanagement
of the RVSD. Yet,
RVSD is still not meeting its obligations! New blood is needed to bring about needed change. Two great candidates have come forward to challenge the status quo—Tom Gaffney and Rick Holland. Tom is a public finance consultant who has developed a ten-year plan to put the RVSD in compliance, and Rick is an internationally recognized leadership consultant in the field of environmental and public health. Help us provide professional leadership to our sanitary district and resolve these problems! Please vote for Tom and Rick in the June 3rd election. A
message from Rick Holland, ·
The Ross
Valley Sanitary District (RVSD) Board has announced it is doubling our annual
fee—have you seen your notification? ·
Sewage
spills continue and the legally mandated minimum required work is not being
completed. ·
Millions
of dollars are currently wasted in legal fees and mismanagement—the district
has been given notice it must move its office early next year because of its
failure to collaborate with other local agencies. ·
Within a
year’s time THREE district managers have departed due to the board’s
incompetence; the current part-time manager also will be leaving shortly. ·
YOU CAN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Come to the RVSD board meeting held the first Tuesday of
every month. Attend the public hearings and ask how our tax money is being
spent. Most importantly— Let’s
Flush the Incumbents!!! Please
vote for Tom and Rick in the June 3rd election.
